Capitalization

  • Sentence case— Capitalize the first word of a sentence and any proper nouns.
  • Title case— Capitalize the first and last words of the title as well as all nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, subordinating conjunctions (if, because, as, that), and prepositions that are longer than 5 letters (around, beneath, between, etc.)
  • Use capitalization with a purpose. Don’t capitalize a word in the middle of a sentence just because you want to emphasize it.
  • Generally, feature and page names are not capitalized, unless they’ve been branded (dashboard not Dashboard). See Podium Terms for specifics.
  • When referring to buttons, bold and initial cap (Click Edit).
  • When referring to links in copy, put in quotes and use capitalization of link itself (click “View your results”).
